Islam has long set its feet on the East befor independence. Many Igbos had long been Muslims until the Civil War. They either had to choose their Religion and did or leave Islam. This was the first fitna (Temptation) that poured on Muslims. Those who refused were slaughtered by the Biafra Army. All Civil War literatures carefully leave out Igbo Muslims. There by denying their existence and origin. But, they usually don’t forget in recognising their traditional religion or Christianity.
Most civil war literatures paint Muslims so bad that if you haven’t meant any before you digest these literature, you certainly conjure in your perception of who Muslims are, “Savages out to destroy civilisations and are hausa, and fulanis.” The Christians for example who joined the war, their Religion is left out.
